At least once a week, completely shut down your computer. Shutting down your computer is a good way to extend the lifespan of your computer and improve it's performance.
Try refreshing your page. Sometimes you might need to close and restart the app.
Check your Wi-Fi. Be sure you are in range of your router.
Try a different browser. Try Internet Explorer, Safari, or Chrome if you have it.
Run the Updates on your computer. Click "start" button and search "update".
Google It! Ask a question and get an answer.
My computer won't turn on.
If it's a laptop: Plug it in and leave it to charge for a few hours. Ensure your power cords are plugged in. It could be that your PC is in sleep mode and is having trouble waking. Restart it by holding down the power button for 5 seconds and then press it again to start your PC.
If it's a desktop: Try plugging it into a different outlet. Ensure power cords are plugged in. Ensure the monitor cord is properly connected to the computer.
My computer is frozen.
Hold down the Ctrl Alt Delete buttons at the same time to bring up the task bar. Select 'task manager' and end each task. Or restart your computer by holding down the power button for 5-10 seconds.
My internet is slow.
Make sure your Wi-Fi is on. SGMS laptops have an on/off switch located at the front of the keyboard.
Exit the browser tabs you don't need anymore.
Restart your modem by switching it off or unplugging it for a few minutes and turn it back on.
My computer is slow.
Exit out of running programs, browsers, or browser tabs.
Turn off your computer for a few minutes.
Use your anti-virus software to scan for and remove malware and adware.
Check available storage space and hard drive health.
My computer is making sounds and/or it's really hot.
It's normal to hear a sound from the computer's hard drive or fan. Make sure the computer is resting on a flat surface and has rubber feet on the bottom.
Make sure there are at least 2 inches of empty space on all sides of a computer for cooling.
I only see a blue screen.
A Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) — will happen after a critical error that the system is unable to process and repair automatically.
Turn off your computer for a few minutes, usually this will fix the problem.
If not, then walk through these steps.
Make sure your virus scanning software is up to date.
I can't access the document.
Make sure you are logged into your SGMS email. If a pop-up appears prompting you to ask permission to view a document, you may be logged into yours or your parents' personal emails instead.
My teacher keeps returning my assignment and I don't know why.
Double-check to make sure you have attached your assignment and are not turning it in blank.
