In support of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School, all families are expected to share their time, talent, and treasure. Stewardship opportunities are available throughout the year and are published in the Saints Weekly and the parent portal.
Parents must choose one of the following options to fulfill their stewardship obligation at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School:
Provide twenty-four (24) hours of stewardship service. This can be fulfilled in the following ways:
Volunteer time during the school year: One (1) hour of volunteer service equals one (1) hour of stewardship credit.
Donate supplies to SGGS in lieu of service hours: Supplies will be credited at a rate of one (1) stewardship hour for every $25 spent, up to a maximum of ten (10) purchased hours.
2. Opt out of the stewardship obligation by paying a one-time fee of $600.
Parents/Guardians are asked to log all volunteer/stewardship hours using the FACTS/SIS system by May 31, 2027.
Failure to meet stewardship requirements by May 31, 2027 will result in a $25 fee per hour not completed.

The Diocese of Richmond requires any individual working or volunteering (including parents) in a Catholic school to submit the Virginia Department of Social Services Child Protective Services Central Registry Form and the Diocese of Richmond Volunteer Select Application Form. Anyone volunteering, coaching, or working in the school or parish must also participate in the Diocesan VIRTUS program, Protecting God’s Children. This is a three-hour training session designed for awareness and prevention of child sexual abuse. Dates, times, and training sites throughout the year may be found at www.virtus.org. Registration for training is also done online. Certificates earned at other parishes are accepted. Copies of certificates of completion must be provided to the school main office.
All volunteers must complete VIRTUS training and their background screening information prior to volunteering at SGGS.
All volunteers are expected to maintain confidentiality as they operate in a position of trust. All volunteers will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
All volunteers are required to sign in and out at the main office.
All volunteers are expected to reflect an image appropriate for the SGGS environment. We ask you to please be mindful of your language, attitude, dress, and overall presentation. We hold our students to a high standard and expect the same from our parents.
Parents/Guardians are asked to log all volunteer/stewardship hours using the FACTS/SIS system by May 15, 2025
Families who do not complete their hours by May 31, 2027, will be charged $25 for every hour missing . These charges will be included in an additional draft, scheduled for June 1, 2027.
This revision reflects a change in the current volunteer opportunities for Men’s Club BINGO.(as of September 11, 2026)
Volunteer opportunities for BINGO will become available throughout the school year as the transition to the new hall is completed and the program settles into its new operations.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Men’s Club ministry and will communicate available BINGO volunteer opportunities through the Saints Weekly and Parent Portal once opportunities become available.
