Purpose
The Ministry of Education (MoE and erstwhile MHRD) in the year 2018, through MoE's Innovation Cell (MIC), launched the Institute's Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to encourage the creative energy of our student population as well as to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up/entrepreneurial ecosystem in educational institutions.
MIC has envisioned encouraging the creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Councils (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.
Focus
A significant focus of IIC is:
To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem
Start-up supporting mechanism in HEIs
Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework
Establish a functional ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of Ideas
Develop better cognitive ability for technology students
Primarily, the IICs' role is to engage a large number of faculty and staff, and encourage, inspire, and nurture young students in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities such as ideation, problem-solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, IPR, project handling and management at pre-incubation/incubation stage, etc., so that innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in HEIs. The MIC envisioned creating a network of IICs across selected HEIs to stimulate innovation in institutions through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation-boosted eco-system on these campuses.

To foster the importance of innovative thinking in the overall success of engineers – starting from the courses they learn.
To stress the need for a multidisciplinary approach to solving today’s complex problems.
To inculcate habits to dream and think creatively.
To train the faculty and students to incorporate innovation and creativity in their courses.
To build incubation and start-up culture in the institute.
To create future entrepreneurs.

SGGSIET Nanded is proud to announce that we have ranked 4th in ARIIA 2020 (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements) in Govt. and Govt. aided Category! ARIIA is is an initiative of Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India to systematically rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculty. A Talk on “Effective Protection of Industrial Design in India”
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, CMIA’s Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC), Aurangabad and European Business and Technology Center
Mr. Nikhil S. Reddy (Partner, K&S Partners) explained concept of Design, Industrial Design, Copyright protection. He also illustrated forms of Intellectual Property i.e., Patent, Copyright, Trademark and Design.
Mr. Ashish Garde (Director of MAGIC), Mr. Shwetabh Raj, students from SGGSIET, Nanded, Prof. Suhas S. Gajre, Prof. R.R. Manthalkar, and Prof. R.V. Sarwadnya were present for the event.

A Lecture on ‘Atmanirbhrata in Technology’ by Madhav Sulphule, IFS Officer
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, and Dept. of Textile Technology
An expert lecture was arranged on ‘Atmanirbhrata in Technology’ by Madhav Sulphule (IFS Officer). Dr. Y.V. Joshi, Dr. S.S. Gajre, Dr. R.R. Manthalkar, Dr. R.N. Joshi, Dr. R.V. Sarwadnya were also present for the lecture along with large number of students.

A Workshop on “Engineering Projects using Arduino” at Govt. Polytechnic, Nanded
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, and Department of Electrical Engineering, Government Polytechnic, Nanded
This was the most exciting event of the year so far! Adarsh Bhosale and Pragati Darekar - IDEA Lab Students Ambassadors, along with team comprising of Nipun Dhandage Aniket Shikarkhane, Ayush Meshram, Hindavi Landhe, etc. - all from RNXG, conducted 2-day workshop on “Engineering Projects using Arduino” at Govt. Polytechnic, Nanded for final year students of Department of Electrical Engineering, Government Polytechnic, Nanded. Prof. Suhas S. Gajre and Prof. Ramchandra R. Manthalkar also gave their inputs.
Prof. Vilas Sarwadnya, Prof. Abhilasha Sayar, Prof. P.S. Linge, Prof. Faimid Abdul, Prof. Y.S. Katake, Prof. O.M. Chavan, and Prof. Priya B. Khedkar from GPND contributed for the workshop.

An inspiring session on “World of Robotics and Simulators - From the Comfort of your home” by Mr. Atish Patange, M.S. in Robotics from University of Bonn, Germany
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, and Young Inspirators' Network (YIN) of Sakal Media Publishing Group
A session on “World of Robotics and Simulators - From the Comfort of your home” by Atish Patange, M.S. in Robotics from University of Bonn, Germany was organised for students. Mr. Gaurav Walambe and Mr. Ajaroddin Shaikh of Sakal Publishing House were also present. Ishwar Gade, Pragati Darekar and Adarsh Bhosale - students ambassadors of SGGSIET-AICTE IDEA Laboratory - were instrumental in coordinating the event. Many students who came late had to be turned away because there was no space to accommodate them!

A Session with DISQ (Digital Impact Square)
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, and DISQ (Digital Impact Square) Nashik
DISQ (Digital Impact Square), Nashik is a TCS Foundations' Open Innovation Platform for Social Innovation. DISQ experts talked about need for innovation related to problems faced by society in general, and how DISQ supports the young innovators with this inclination. About 50 students and faculty attended the event. Many students joined online.

A Session on "Need of Startup Incubation" By Kaustav Das, CEO, CABIIF, SRTMUN
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab, and CABIIF, SRTMUN
CABIIF - Center for Agro-Bio Innovation and Incubation Foundation - is a section 8 company incubator at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (SRTMUN). It is sponsored by Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS). Mr. Kaustav Das, CEO, CABIIF, SRTMUN talked about "Need of Startup Incubation", and later gave a brief idea about the whole incubation process. He also presented facilities available at SRTMU incubation center, and urged students to take up the path to become atmnirbhar by participating in the start-up movement. About 50 Students, Prof. Y.V. Joshi, Prof. S.S. Gajre, Prof. R.R.Manthalkar, and many other faculty members were present.

Participation in District level Startup Bootcamp
Organized by SRTMUN and Maharashtra Startup Yatra 2022
Prof. Suhas S. Gajre, Dean (Incubation) and IIC President, SGGSIET, Nanded, and also Innovation Ambassador participated in District level Startup Bootcamp organized under Maharashtra Startup Yatra 2022 organized by Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS) under the Startup India programme on Thursday, 13-Oct-2022 at School of Social Sciences, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU), Nanded. The inauguration was presided over by Dr. Uddhav Bhosale, Hon. Vice Chancellor, SRTMU, Nanded. Prof. Rajaram Mane, Director, Innovation, Incubation and Linkages, SRTMU, Nanded, officials from MSInS and DIC, a few eminent innovators and entrepreneurs, startup entrepreneurs selected from Taluka level, and enthusiasts were present on occasion.

Celebration of National Engineers’ Day
Organized by IIC and SGGSIET-IDEA Lab
The life journey of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was explained by inspiring speech, PPT presentation and videos throughout the program. Dr. G.D. Awchat told the importance of ‘National Engineers’ Day’. He also explained essential projects by Sir M. Visvesvaraya for the welfare of society. Dr. Suhas S. Gajre talked about the importance of each engineering branch and its importance to human life. Prof. R.R. Manthalkar also addressed a bit. Prof. R.V. Sarwadnya was present. The only bad thing about the event was that only about 10 students attended the event despite being engineering college.

Road Safety Awareness program
Jointly organized by IIC, SGGSIET-IDEA Lab and Dean (Student Affairs)
A Road Safety Awareness Program was arranged on 24-Sept-2022, 5 pm at A4 Hall. In the program, a presentation was done by Mr. Vaibhav Dubbewar, ARTO, Nanded. He advised the students for the use of helmet while driving the motorcycle. He made appeal to follow traffic rules and make others aware of the same. Dr. A.R.Patil, Dean (Student Affairs), Prof. Suhas S. Gajre, Dean (Incubation) and IIC President, and Prof. R.R. Manthalkar were present for the event.
Prof. Suhas Gajre and Prof. Ramchandra Manthalkar appealed students to take various innovative projects which will aid in reducing the accidents due to minor mistakes which will save lots of precious lives. They also discussed about the use of technology in reducing traffic congestion should also be one of the innovative area.
