An Initiative of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi
SGGSIET, Nanded is proud in announcing that the institute is selected to establish AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab. AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) – an apex body under Mistry of Education, Govt. of India has decided to establish AICTE-IDEA Labs for encouraging students for application of science, technologies, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and product visualisation. In the first phase, 49 institutes in India are selected for the prestigious project.
Under this scheme, the grant of about Rs. 1.1 Crore is envisaged in which AICTE will grant Rs. 55 Lakhs and institute will have to invest the remaining. The institutes are selected based on infrastructure and Industrial collaborations. In the first phase, 49 labs are selected throughout India. SGGSIET is one among 5 institutes in Maharashtra and the only institute from Marathwada and Vidarbha to get selected for this coveted scheme.
It will be a common facility in the institution open 24x7 which will make engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in the 21st century skills like- critical thinking, problem-solving, research, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc. The idea lab aims at developing critical thinking & complex problem-solving abilities among the students of the institute. The lab will also provide support to schools, polytechnic colleges and engineering colleges in the vicinity.
The lab will be mainly managed by students who will be responsible for overall implementation of the project. Trainings, boot camps, internships and professional training programs will be organized throughout the year for faculty and students. IDEA Lab would also serve as an empowering infrastructure for faculty to delve into multidisciplinary education and research, emphasized in the National Education Policy 2020.
A significant focus of IIC is:
24x7 open fully managed by students
Hands on experience of multidisciplinary projects = Skill Development for the technologies of the future
Allowed to try and fail as many times as possible before getting success
Design Thinking Methodology
Prototyping
3-D printing, CNC Laser cutting, CNC Wood cutting, PCB designing, PCB manufacturing, ….
Projects based on the future technologies
Arduino based projects, NodeMCU based projects, BeagleBone AI based projects, Raspberry Pi 4 based projects, BeagleBone AI based projects, PLC/SCADA based projects, etc., related to AI, ML, Cyber security, smart manufacturing, smart textiles, smart construction, ….
Vision:
Enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing, and product visualization
Mission:
Envisaged to make engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in the 21st century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, design thinking, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning, etc.
Can empower the students and faculty to “engage, explore, experience, express and excel”, addressing the need of new-age learning.
Would serve as an infrastructure for students and faculty to take up and promote multidisciplinary education and research.
Faculty would be encouraged to get trained in these Labs and strive for creating problems/ projects/ internships in their own subjects/ disciplines and mentor the students.
