An important note for our graduates and guests about Thursday:

Dear Senior Class Parents and Guardians,

As we are nearing our commencement exercises, I wanted to share some additional information (as well as resend the information I sent last month as a reminder).  Please read carefully and review it as we are only 48 hours away from the big event!

• Commencement Ceremony (Thursday, June 22, 2023): The graduation ceremony is held at the Cool Insuring Arena.  Graduation will begin at 7 p.m. and will last approximately two hours.

  • Commencement  Seating and Parking: 

    • Parking at the Civic Center/Cool Insuring Arena can be rough.  Please plan accordingly.

    • Students are welcome to take pictures down on the arena floor until you are called to your lineup station (no guests on the arena floor at any time).

    • There is no limit on the number of guests.  

    • For those guests with limited mobility, there is space available around the top of the Cool Insuring Arena and seating is also available for those who can’t navigate ANY stairs.  

    • For those whose limitations allow for navigating a stair or two, we will ask all guests who have family with full mobility to NOT sit in the top row of seats.

  • Commencement Photography: 

    • Adirondack School Portraits will be providing photo coverage for the Class of 2023 and will take a picture of your student crossing the stage and receiving their diploma.  Within about 72 hours, Adirondack School Portraits will have the proofs available to your family online.  There is no cost to the family, unless you would like to order enlargements or packages.  Please see the note sent by Mr. Mody via ParentSquare on Wednesday for the link. 

    • Our Communications Specialist will be on the floor before graduation. Be sure to catch her if you want a photo up on our social media sites!

  • End of Commencement  & Reconnecting with your Senior

    • Once graduation is done, we will have students participate in a recessional that we developed and have come to love a few years back.  The recessional moves students to the floor level exit from the building where they can then meet parents and families outside for post-graduation pictures.  As the recessional begins, guests are welcome to exit the Cool Insuring Arena to reconnect with their graduates.

    • I would recommend that you identify an outdoor meeting location prior to graduation as we have about 200 graduates and likely about 1000 guests and staff who will be exiting the building all at about the same time.
