Welcome to TED 2024! This webpage will provide information, resources, and updates during the next 10 weeks we are in session. This website is meant to be a living resource that you can use long after the TED 2024 cohort is complete.
Introduction to the TED Website
TED participants will be placed in breakout rooms where they will introduce themselves to their group. Participants will be moved to different groups where the process is repeated.

Participants will be brought back together and will write something interesting about a person they met in the chat.
Week 2 expectations will be discussed.
TED participants will create a 1-Slide presentation about their school and add it to the School Slide Presentation prior to the Week 2 session.
Week 7, 8, and 9 Expectations: Participants will be assigned one of the weekly topics where they will create a 15-20 minute presentation for the TED Cohort. There will be 7-9 groups. Each group will consist of 4-6 people for each group. Two to three groups will participate per session. The topics:

US and European Schools
What Does Your School Look Like
On Zoom, add your country next to your name.
Educators will prepare a 1-Slide presentation on their school. The slide must include:
Pictures inside and outside of the school.
Pictures of students if allowed by school.
Days and Hours of the school.
Subjects taught throughout the day.
They may include:
What does lunch look like?
Do you have your own classroom?
Any topics in the Twelve Difference in European School article
TED participants will be placed in breakout rooms where they will discuss their slide.
TED Participants will discuss the article assigned for the weekly discussion.
Week 3 expectations will be discussed.
Begin thinking about how you would like your class to participate in a global collaboration.

Global Collaborations-How Do We Get Started?
Global Collaborations, while I would like this to be the capstone project of TED, I understand this may not be possible due to school constraints. TED will be supportive of each participant.
Dr. Oldham will provide a slide presentation about global collaborations.
Guest presenters from previous TED cohorts will lead breakout sessions and talk about how they have led their classes in global collaborations and offer ideas.
In your groups, start thinking about a Global Collaboration Plan and who would make a great collaboration partner(s). There are so many choices!!!
Global Groups must have at least ONE European and ONE American School.
The Global Collaborations will be ongoing throughout TED 2024.
Week 4 Expectations will be discussed.
Pick 3-5 tech tools that you really like and be ready to share.

Week 4-February 4, 2024
Best Tech Week
TED participants will be placed in groups of 4 where they will discuss their favorite tech tools and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
Groups will create a 5-7 minute Google Slide presentation of their favorite tech tools. NOTE: GROUPS CANNOT GO OVER TIME. I will be very strict on the 7 minute maximum.
Each group can choose 1 speaker, 2 speakers, or everyone can speak...it is your choice.
Groups will present to the TED cohort as a whole about their favorite tech tools.
Week 5 Expectations will be discussed.

Week 5-February 11, 2024
Socratic Discussion Week
Dr. Oldham will share a presentation on Socratic Smackdowns and how they can be implemented in the classrooms.
Donna Schrum (TED 2023) will present over the Harkness Method.
TED participants will be discussing the topic, "Should cell phones be allowed in schools?" This will be the guiding question.
TED participants will be placed in breakout groups where they will practice a technique called a Triad where small groups practice using the socratic smackdown tools in a small setting before coming together in a large group.
TED participants will come together as a whole group and participate in a Socratic Smackdown just like a class would participate in.
Debrief afterwards and discuss what positives and questions you still have about the session.
Week 6 Expectations will be discussed.
TRIAD WEEK: TED Participants will pick 4-6 topics of discussion and who will lead them.
NOTE: There can be more than one moderator of a topic.
TED participants will lead the breakout rooms and discussions.

The TED cohort will be placed in one of the breakout rooms for discussion. Discussions will last 15-20 minutes.
Sessions will be led by members of the TED 2024 Cohort
There will be 2 rotations.
Weeks 7, 8, and 9 Groups will have time to meet and discuss their presentation.
