The Jerry Rosenstein Arts Project (JRAP): Building a holistic approach to middle school performing arts instruction
In 2016, SFUSD received a $1.4 million private donation from the estate of philanthropist Gerald (Jerry) B. Rosenstein, Jerry Rosenstein. A Holocaust survivor who bravely told his story after decades of silence, a businessman with keen financial acumen, a gay man who cared about human rights, and a generous person who fully gave of himself in service to others, he made an impact on SFUSD that is equally immeasurable and enduring. His generous donation is intended to enhance performing arts instruction in middle schools. Formed as a consortium of performing arts organizations working jointly with SFUSD Middle Schools. The Jerry Rosenstein Arts Project (JRAP) is an innovative program designed to provide arts-integration focused Professional Development for educators and in-class Teaching Artist Residencies across multiple art forms.
