American Student Ethnography Project
( eBook with at least 10 pages and a cover, using Book Creator.)
- Introduction
How do you define the idea of America? What does it mean to you to be American? How does your cultural heritage impact you as an American? How do you impact America? Do you see yourself as an American or are you some combination of people like African-American, Japanese-American, Mexican-American, etc.?
- Procedure
1. For this project you will take the photos with your iPad to document and organize a personal American ethnography. The ethnography will document a part of your life that describes you as an a American. Over the Winter Break take photographs of activities in your life that make you feel American. These can be people, places, objects, events you attend, activities you participate in at school or home, or elsewhere, and yes even pets.
2. If you are not able to take photos of something because it is not nearby—you can use photographs, family heirlooms and souvenirs, or other printed images. You should take at least 25 photos. In the end you will edit and create 10 pages in an eBook with these images. As you take the pictures you can begin to choose the photos and place them into your final document.
