Meet the Teachers

Ms. Price (she/her/hers)

Hello Lafayette family!

My name is Ms. Ra Price and I am honored to be a part of your 4th grade family this year.

A little bit about me...

I received both my BA (Child and Adolescent Development- School Age Concentration) and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University. I also completed my Masters of Education degree (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of San Diego. I have been a part of the Lafayette community since 2009. I have taught both 2nd grade and 4th grade (with 4th grade being my favorite).

I grew up in the Central Valley and am currently living in San Francisco with my husband, Geoff and pet turtle. When I am not teaching, I love traveling, reading, hiking, binge-watching television and exploring new restaurants and foods. I also enjoy CrossFit, weightlifting, and powerlifting. I love all things science fiction and fantasy related.

I look forward to working with everyone in our classroom community to create a culturally relevant and responsive classroom that is nurturing, engaging, inclusive, and equitable for students to develop growth mindsets, cooperative learning, and social responsibility.

I am excited for us to be together this year and am looking forward to learning and growing with everyone in our community.

Ms. Paxhia

I am a Special Education teacher here at Lafayette Elementary School. I started teaching in 2003 in Boston, Massachusetts and completed my Masters in Special Education at Wheelock College in 2005. I lived and taught in Boston until 2009 when I moved to San Francisco in pursuit of nicer weather and to continue teaching. During my time in SFUSD I have worked as a resource specialist and Safe and Supportive Schools coach where I spent time at many different schools. I feel very fortunate to have found a spot at Lafayette. I am continuously impressed by the community here and am grateful everyday to come work with such wonderful people.

When I am not at school, you can find me enjoying the outdoors. I am a competitive sailor and also love to surf, cycle, swim and hike. My family moved west to San Francisco shortly after me, and my husband, daughter and I are lucky to be able to spend time with them be it exploring the city, sailing, walking their dogs at Ocean Beach, or enjoying a picnic at Golden Gate Park.

Ms. Denice

Hello! My name is Denice Kung and I am a paraprofessional here at Lafayette. I have been with SFUSD since 2012, and a part of the Lafayette community since 2013. I was born and raised in San Francisco. I attended San Francisco State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a minor in Education. I am currently working on my teaching credential in Special Education. Outside of school, I love to travel, hike and drink boba!

Miss McGee

Hello, my name is Sarah McGee and I am the student teacher in Ms. Price’s class. I am currently a Multiple Subjects Credential and Masters student at SFSU and am very exited about the opportunity to work with Ms. Price’s fourth graders! I am originally from Portland, OR and a new San Francisco resident. I got my BA in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Oregon and then spent five years teaching in a private school before starting at SFSU. I have already loved getting to know all of the students and learning from Ms. Price! I will be in the classroom two days a week and look forward to seeing you around!
