The Athletic Program at Burton High School is an integral part of the education process. It is meant to provide learning experiences for the students who participate. It helps develop habits, attitudes, and ideals necessary for ethical competition and cooperation in our society. It also provide our students with the unique opportunities for self discipline, self sacrifice, and loyalty to the community, the school, and the team.
Burton High School provides a well-rounded program of interscholastic athletics for both young men and women. Students are encouraged to participate in sports through the school year.
Competition and cooperation are prized in our culture, and both are fostered by an athletic program under competent leadership.
Interscholastic athletics is a voluntary program. Thus, competition is a privilege and not a right. Along with the privilege is the responsibility to conform to standards established for the high school athletic teams. This privilege may be revoked when the athlete fails or refuses to comply with the rules.
Vision: Burton High School’s Athletic department strives to provide an equal opportunity for all student-athletes, while positively contributing to their community as world citizens. We value education and are dedicated to providing our student-athletes with opportunities to advance their education through athletics. Coaches and staff members are committed to providing a quality experience, preparing student-athletes for competition, community leadership, and life-skills.
