Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 3:20 pm to 5:00 pm.
Yes.
We will practice EVERY DAY and on some Saturdays.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 3:20 pm-5:00 pm
Wednesday: TBD
Saturdays (occasionally): 9:00 am-11:30 am and Competitions
Come out for the team and try it. Give it a few weeks and if it doesn’t work out tell the coach that it just isn’t your sport. No hard feelings; it’s not for everyone and at least you had the courage to try out the sport. Just respect Burton Wrestling for giving you the chance to try.
Make sure you give it your best and don’t get discouraged because everybody will have good and bad days. Hard work isn’t always easy, but it is rewarding. Try to push yourself to new limits and meet the challenge. Once you have made it into a couple of competitions you should commit to finishing the season as the line-up is formed around your participation.
No. Everyone makes the team and as long as you show up to all the practices and competitions along with following team rules, you are a member of the team.
You wrestle-off and the best wrestler gets Varsity, the second-best gets JV and so on down the line. You get a chance every week to challenge for a spot.
The weight classes are:
106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285
We do not force anyone to lose weight. Our goal is to have a wrestler with the least amount of fat and as much muscle as possible. The best way to do this is to eat healthily and exercise.
1) Wrestling Shoes – Approximately $40-$70 (check out Amazon and local sporting goods stores)
2) Hoodie, Sweatpants, and T-shirt
3) Running Shoes
Optional – Knee Pads, Mouth Piece (especially if you have braces)
*You DO NOT need to buy all the equipment right away. You can wait until mid-November before you buy all the equipment. Try the sport and make sure that you like it. All equipment needs to be purchased by December 1.
