2026 Externship Host Checklist & Responsibilities Form
By hosting a teacher, you are doing more than providing a summer job; you are influencing the local STEM talent pipeline.
Multiplier Effect: Every teacher you host reaches 125 students per year (5 classes of 25).
Fresh Perspective: Externs contribute to everyday projects using their unique content knowledge and viewpoints.
Brand Ambassadorship: Teachers return to their schools ready to communicate your company’s opportunities directly to future workers.
Authentic Learning: Your expertise helps teachers answer the age-old student question: "When will I ever need to know this?".
January 26, 2026: Teacher application process opens.
February 27, 2026: Application process closes.
March 9, 2026: Applications are delivered to host businesses for review.
March 10 – April 17, 2026: Interview period for host businesses to select candidates.
April 21, 2026: Externs are officially notified of their placements.
June & July 2026: Externships take place (specific 4-week windows are mutually agreed upon).

Palm Beach County middle school and high school science teachers and principals are invited to join us for a collaborative day of learning at both UF Scripps and FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute on Wednesday, February 18, from 10:00am to 3:30 pm.
This engaging professional development day will feature exploration of neuroscience tools, drug discovery, facility tours, and a panel discussion on career pathways.
Spend a half day at each of these incredible science research and discovery institutions. Lunch is included.
