Ms. Aviva's Math Class

We will start the year focusing on Number Talks and getting students familiar with number sense. Students will be asked to solve problems using mental math and then share the steps they took with a peer and then with the class. This promotes critical thinking and encourages students to use multiple strategies to solve a problem.

Our first unit in math focuses on place value, powers of 10 and decimals. Our curriculum will be a combination of My Math, Engage NY and math tasks pulled from various resources. Homework is spiral review to keep materials fresh all year.

We will be using two online websites to practice math facts.
