Pentecost.
On Monday, our school community gathered together in a beautiful reflection of faith, community, and leadership to celebrate the feast of Pentecost. This special liturgy was led by our students, who brought reverence, and a deep meaning to the celebration. Pentecost marks an important moment in our faith journey—it is affectionately known as the birthday of our Catholic Church. It is the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, transforming their fear into profound faith and marking the official beginning of the Church's mission in the world.
The core message of the liturgy centered on the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, which gave the early disciples the hope and courage they needed to step out into the unknown. After Jesus ascended, the disciples found themselves hidden away, uncertain of the future. The arrival of the Holy Spirit changed everything, filling them with a burning desire to share God's love. Our student leaders reminded us that this very same Holy Spirit is alive within us today, offering us that identical gift of hope and courage in our modern lives.
"The Holy Spirit does not leave us as we are; it fills us with the courage to step outside our comfort zones and be a force for good in the world."
We didn't have to look far to see real-world examples of this courage in action. Just last week, our Year 7 and 8 students embarked on their school camp. For many, camp is a landscape of unfamiliar challenges—heights to conquer, outdoor elements to brave, and personal boundaries to push. The liturgy beautifully connected our school values 'the fruits of the Holy Spirit' to the resilience shown by these students. It takes a profound amount of courage to face fears on such activities like rock climbing, to persevere through physical exhaustion, and to support peers when they are struggling. The Holy Spirit was undoubtedly witnessed throughout the week.
However, the liturgy reminded us that the call to courage extends far beyond the campgrounds. The true challenge of Pentecost is carrying that spirit into our daily interactions. We are called to have the courage to speak out for those who need it most—the lonely, the marginalized, and the voiceless in our society.
True courage means:
Standing up for what is right, even when it is unpopular or difficult.
Speaking words of kindness and justice in moments where silence would be easier.
Being a beacon of hope to classmates who might be going through a dark time.
As we move forward from our Pentecost celebration, let us carry the fire of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. Let the leadership of our students inspire us, and let the bravery of our Year 7 and 8 campers remind us of what we are capable of achieving. May we all find the strength to stand tall, act justly, and boldly live out the mission of our Church every single day.
Uniform
To ensure we continue to strengthen our standards at school and for our tamariki to feel proud of our kura, we ask that your child wears the correct school uniform. Please see the attachment for uniform expectations.
Also note that:
- hair accessories like hair ties are to be black, blue or brown
- No painted nails or clip on nails (as this makes it hard for students to write)

Garden to table
Today we visited Father Biju’s garden — what an amazing experience!
We explored beautiful flowers, discovered worms, smelt fresh curry leaves, and were even invited inside to see Father Biju’s indoor plants! The children loved learning more about gardening and growing.
When we returned to school, Kate — our composting guru — joined us to help with our composting journey. We also introduced our brand new compost mixer/spinner to help turn and mix the compost more easily!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Easter fundraiser. The funds have helped us purchase seeds and our new compost mixer.
To top it all off, we planted broad beans and peas — yay!
