Our senior students are enjoying the fun and adventure of their intermediate camp experience at Makahika. This experience always takes our 11-13 year olds out of their comfort zone in many ways. It is wonderful to have such a caring and kind group of adults taking good care of them. We will share some photos in coming weeks.
Class Mass
If you are available it would be great to see our Room 5 and 6 whānau support their tamariki in their first Mass of the Year. If you are available it would be wonderful to see you on Friday for our Buddy Mass at 9.10am. Talking about Mass, we warmly welcome you to our Whole School Ash Wednesday Mass on the 5th of March at 12pm at St Francis de Sales Church.
Challenges with the structure of the Maths Curriculum
One of the challenges we are facing this year is that the updated curriculum content for Maths is structured with the assumption that all learners of the same year level will be able to learn at the same pace. We (and you) know this not to be the case. I want to thank our teachers and teacher aides who are needing to make adaptations in the same way they normally do - but within a pretty inflexible structure. You may find this press release about this context to be interesting - https://hail.to/new-zealand-principals-federation/article/mZyA5V2.
Second hand Mirror
We are looking for a mirror about the size of an A3 piece of paper, or similar. If anyone has an old one at home they are looking to re-home, please consider donating it to us. It can be dropped to the school office.
Before and after school care

What is the PSL?
The SFDS Parent School Link (PSL) is a group of parents and caregivers who support the school and its families through fundraising, social events, and community care.
We organize the legendary SFDS Fair, school discos, Easter raffle, and fun parent nights. We also support families in tough times.
Joining PSL is a fun way to meet other parents, build great connections, and be part of a wonderful community.
PSL Easter Raffle -Coming soon
Keep an eye out for details on this year’s Easter Raffle! We’re mixing things up, including a special mufti day—stay tuned for more info!
