Religious Education

This term our RE theme is Te Rongopai Good New. As part of their learning the students will:

• Explore the story of the Nativity (art, stories, crafts, music, dance, drama, free play) in Year 1-3

• Represent the story of the Nativity for our school community in Year 4-6.

• Experience and discuss Lectio Divina as a way of praying in Year 7&8. 

• Show how Jesus used powerful stories called parables to teach, and how Jesus taught in a variety of other ways too in Year 7&8.

Pastoral Care for Christmas

Our students learn a great deal about looking out for the needs of others, and we promote Catholic Social Teachings within our learning programme. St Vincent de Paul is a Catholic organisation that looks out specifically for the needs of the vulnerable in your immediate community.

As everyone knows, Christmas is a time that can bring a great deal of stress for families with young children - including when families are not in a position to provide special treats and gifts to their children. 

We encourage you to take part in the St Vincent de Paul call out for UNWRAPPED gifts for 0-16 year olds, non-perishable Christmas food, rolls of gift wrapping and items that decorate gifts. 

We will set up a Christmas display in the office - and gather these on your behalf, and give them to St Vincent de Paul, to distribute to the community.

SFDS Movember Squad

You guessed it - the hairy season is upon us once more!  Abe, Michael and Ronan will be growing some fabulous moustaches to promote men's health and to raise some funds.  Please consider donating to our cause - our group is called the 'SFDS Movember Squad'.  Here is the link.  (I might even be able to rope David and Chris into joining us - but no pressure at all, lads!)

Last year we raised a whopping $720; let's smash that total!  (We are already off the ground and it's only November 2)

Road Maintenance Notification – Friday, 7 November 2025

Wellington Water has advised that reinstatement maintenance will take place on Mersey Street on Friday, 7 November.
Work is scheduled to begin around 9:30 a.m., following the school drop-off period, and is expected to take 1–2 hours to complete. Please note that this timeframe may vary depending on conditions.

A stop/go traffic control system will be in place while the work is carried out. To allow the team to complete the work safely and efficiently, please ensure that all vehicles are removed from the highlighted areas during this time.

If weather conditions prevent the work from being completed as planned, it will be rescheduled to the next suitable day.
