OPUS Information:
Opus is an honor choir opportunity for students in grades 5-9, sponsored by the Iowa Choral Directors Association. Four choirs of 180 voices each will be chosen for this event. To audition, I have to send in a recording of you singing America or a major scale, and two specific audition excerpts according to your grade level for the 2024-2025 school year.
Students who are accepted will learn additional music for the performance and will attend the festival on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Iowa State University in Ames. Please make sure you have this date available before auditioning.
Recordings will be made at school with Mrs. JO September 18-20, 2024.

Concert Attire, Grades 5th-8th:
Honor Choirs, Festivals, and the Fine Art's Night Spring Concert:
Formal attire such as slacks, khakis, dark-wash jeans, collared shirts, clean dress shoes, blouses, dresses, skirts, dress pants, and the like are welcome. Please avoid clothing with stains, rips, and writing on them. See the school handbook for more information regarding straps, skirt length, and loose pants. All school dress code rules apply to concerts and school related performances. Contact Mrs. JO if you have questions.
Winter Concert:
Holiday themed clothing and colors are welcome. Festive sweaters, light up necklaces and headbands are welcome. Please avoid hats and pajama items.
Note: The attire guidelines are in place only to give you an idea of what the majority of people will be wearing. We ask that students present themselves in the best light possible as they are representing themselves as performers and as a school, however, we understand that formal attire is not an option for everyone. If you feel that you have nothing suitable to wear to the concert, please do not feel obligated to buy new clothing, or worse, skip the event. Simply come as you are, and enjoy the performance. So long as students are following the school dress code outlined in the student handbook, they will never be turned away from a performance due to attire.
