2009-2010:
- Two students were selected for All-State Choir
- 25 students were members of the department.
- Band received a superior rating and Choir received an excellent rating at festival.
2010-2011:
- A grant for 15 iPads, sound system, and recording studio was received from Matthies Foundation.
- Students presented their iPad work at the 2011 CMEA Conference.
2011-2012
- A grant was received to commission iAlchemy for a performance with the Waterbury Symphony.
- 55 students were members of the department between band, choir and music theory.
- 10 students auditioned for Regionals.
- A professional recording, "Celebration", was recorded in April. The band, choir, and music theory students were featured.
- Band received a superior rating and Choir received an excellent rating at festival.
2012-13
- Classes in Guitar and Hip-Hop were added. There were 11 members of the band and 31 members of the choir.
- A Tri-M Chapter was formed. Six students were in the initial class.
- Band received an excellent rating and choir a superior rating at festival.
- The band performed at the WCSU Jazz Festival.
2013-14
- 13 students were enrolled in band and 48 in choir. A Freshman choir class was started.
- Four students participated in the American Choral Directors Association Connecticut (ACDA) honors choir.
- The freshman choir produced the musical Seussical, Jr and received four HALO nominations, winning one.
- Four band students attended the UConn "1st Chair" Band Festival in Storrs
- Two students were selected for the CMEA Southern Region Choir
- Ten students participated in the first Valley Arts Festival Honors Choir.
- Band received an excellent rating and choir a superior rating at festival.
2014-15
- The choir attended the WCSU Cantate Choir Festival
- Annie, Jr was produced by the choir.
- 16 students were in band and 37 in choir.
- Two students were selected for the CMEA Southern Regional Festival Band.
- An after-school drumline was formed.
- Varsity letters in band and choir were awarded for the first time.
- The HS Choir and MS Glee Club combined forces for a Music in Our Schools Month concert
- Twelve Angry Jurors was produced in April.
- SHS received seven HALO nominations.
2015-16
- 15 students were in band and 57 in choir
- The band and choir traveled to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. 48 students took the trip.
- Two students were selected for the CMEA Southern Regional Festival.
- Twenty students joined Chorale, the after school acapella group.
- Chorale sang at the WCSU Cantate Festival and Yale University.
- The first SHS Parent Choir debuted at the Winter Concert
- Three fundraisers were launched: Mattress Sale, Citrus Sale, Poinsettia Sale.
2016-17
- Three students were selected for the CMEA Southern Regional Festival.
- The band and choir traveled to UConn and Boston.
- Chorale was selected as a CMEA Honors Ensemble and performed at the state conference.
- Theory of Relativity was produced in December and a Night of One Acts was produced in April.
- HALOs were awarded for sound design, student directing, and Best Contemporary Play
