My name is Rebecca Champagne, and I am proud to have been born and raised in Seymour. I attended Chatfield Elementary School, Seymour Middle School, and graduated from Seymour High School before going on to earn my B.A. in Elementary and Special Education, as well as my M.A. in Educational Psychology, from Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY.
I have been teaching in the Seymour School District for 23 years. My goal as an educator is to foster a love of learning by creating a classroom environment that is fun, safe, and interactive. While I hold high expectations for all students, I value the fact that every child learns differently and develops at their own pace. Over the years, I have worked with diverse student populations and am always seeking strategies to meet their individual needs.
The 2025–2026 school year marks my first year teaching at Seymour Middle School, following 22 years at the elementary level in Kindergarten and First Grade. During that time, I also spent six years as a Special Education teacher, supporting students with special needs across grades K–5.
I live in Seymour with my husband, two sons, and daughter. My daughter is a fifth grader at Chatfield Lo-Presti School, while my sons are in their freshman and senior years at Seymour High School. Between dance classes and high school sports, our family stays busy, but we love spending time together—whether cheering on the sidelines or relaxing at home. My favorite place to be is the beach, and I spend my summers enjoying the shore in Wildwood, New Jersey.
