Amazing ELL Camp

We had a very successful camp. The students enjoyed themselves and it helped to just speak English again and kind of get back in the school mentality. We loved how relaxed the environment was and students enjoyed the flexibility in the schedule. This camp fostered some strong relationships with the students and parents as well.

K- We worked on basic communication skills, how to hold a pencil, using scissors and glue, and worked on short vowel sounds

1- We reviewed alphabet sounds, CVC patterns and word families, used Imagine Learning, and focused heavily on writing for information and expanding on a sentence.

2- We reviewed short and long vowels, learned about diagraphs and vowels teams used Imagine learning, and worked on the basics of an introduction to a paragraph.

3-5: We focused on homonyms, compound words, and more targeted grammar instruction. We also highly enjoyed doing a Novel Study on the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. The students used interactive journals to respond to the text and engaged in more academic conversations about the text. We focused on text to self,text,and world.

Campamento ELL Exitoso

Tuvimos un campamento muy exitoso. Los estudiantes se divirtieron y les ayudó a volver a hablar inglés y a regresar a la rutina escolar. Nos encanto lo relajado del ambiente y los estudiantes disfrutaban de la flexibilidad en el horario. Este campamento fomentó algunas relaciones sólidas con los estudiantes y con los padres también.

K- Trabajamos en habilidades básicas de comunicación, cómo sostener un lápiz, usar tijeras y pegamento, y trabajamos en sonidos de vocales cortas

1- Repasamos los sonidos del alfabeto, los patrones CVC y las familias de palabras, utilizamos Imagine Learning y nos centramos principalmente en escribir para obtener información y ampliar una oración.

2- Repasamos las vocales cortas y largas, aprendimos sobre los diagramas y las vocales que los equipos utilizaron Imagine learning, y trabajamos en los aspectos básicos de una introducción a un párrafo.

3-5: Nos enfocamos en homónimos, palabras compuestas y más instrucción de gramática dirigida. También disfrutamos mucho haciendo un estudio de novela sobre el libro Wonder de R.J. Palacio. Los estudiantes usaron diarios interactivos para responder al texto y participaron en más conversaciones académicas sobre el texto. Nos enfocamos en el texto para uno mismo, el texto y el mundo.
