March 21, 2020 Announcement

As you know, based on the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in New York and surrounding areas, and the advice of public health officials and community leaders who are strongly urging social-distancing, we have made a decision to temporarily close the studio. This closure will remain in effect through March 31, 2020. We are currently planning on re-opening as soon as businesses are allowed to resume normal operations, but we will continue to monitor this on a daily basis and communicate any changes in a timely manner.

This was a very difficult decision for us to make, but we believe that, given the circumstances, temporarily closing is in the best interest of our SSSPA families. While we understand this will be an inconvenience, we feel it is the responsible choice to make.

We remain optimistic and hopeful that things will get back to normal sooner rather than later. We understand families have and will miss classes this month but at the time of re-opening we will offer additional classes to accommodate all needed make-ups from March absences. We will continue to monitor this on a daily basis and will provide updates as needed. For further information and continued updates, please check back to this page.

Thank you for your continued trust, support and understanding. We look forward to re-uniting with our SSSPA families as soon as possible and cannot wait to be back in the studio. We hope you all remain safe and healthy through this challenging time.

Thank you,

Miss Nicole, Miss Donna and the SSSPA Staff

What are you offering for missed classes during the March 12th - March 22nd studio closure?

In order to not cancel anymore classes than necessary, the week of March 16th - 22nd was designated as our spring break week.

What are you offering for missed classes during the March & April studio closure?

A make-up class schedule for April will be posted as soon as we get a clearer picture of our recital date.

I struggle to schedule a make-up class for my child/ren due to some class availability. How will I get a make-up class?

In effort to make up all classes missed during the month of March, we will be offering additional class times outside of our regularly scheduled classes for all programs. We understand some families attend classes on weekends and cannot make-up classes during the week so we will offer both Saturday and Sunday make-up class options.

Please see the MAKEUP CLASS CHART for specific makeup class times.

Finances

Here at SSSPA we wish to be FULLY transparent in regards to our financials and the financial commitment your family has placed into our program. I want to start by saying THANK YOU. Thank you for believing in our program and for entrusting your dancer to us on a weekly basis. We are committed to providing excellence in dance and growth in character inside the dance room and outside of the classroom. This is a commitment that surpasses all monetary value. We wish to be a business that is set apart in the Brewster community, and we believe that starts by being wise with the gift of your children and the responsibility of our finances and your finances. We do not have all of the answers as of now, but we wish to communicate with the information we do have. Please see the following FAQs for the information that we do have.

May Tuition

Since we will be most likely be moving to an all Zoom platform for the month of May, and will not be able to make up these classes in studio, tuition will be at a reduced Seven Star Stream rate of 50% off your normal Seven Star School tuition.

We are committed to providing an online platform for your dancers to keep learning online through March (unless we're able to return prior to then). This online platform titled "Seven Star Stream" will provide content such as videos from your SSSPA teachers, guest instructional videos, rehearsal videos for recital routines provided by your SSSPA teachers, coloring pages, family activities, social challenges, and so much more. Our priority is spending the remainder of March filling this website with a wealth of content for your performer. Once it is safe to return to the studio, Seven Star School will continue to provide an updated make up schedule, making up classes missed during this closure. Seven Star Stream was created as an extra tool to keep your children happy and healthy and create normalcy in their life during this trying time.

Refunds

We wish to be as sensitive as possible during this time of uncertainty for many families. However, we are unable to offer tuition or recital costume refunds in a situation such as this. Seven Star School of Performing Arts relies on tuition in order to honor all of its expenses, and most of these expenses are fixed. The vast majority of our expenses budget goes to paying teaching and administrative employees and independent contractors, and covering other costs such as utilities, rent, insurance, building maintenance, accounting services, marketing services, and the web of online systems that allow SSSPA to run so smoothly behind the scenes. These expenses do not disappear when businesses have to close due to a state of emergency. It is our priority to support our teachers, administrative staff, students, and families as best as we can during this time.

Withdraws

We understand the current situation globally looks fearful and unknown. Right now you may be wanting to hold onto your check book and withdraw from all activities. We would hate to see all of the money, time and dedication you and your child have put towards this season go to waste and not be able to participate in the 2020 recital.
