Hence Sevalaya has organised the distribution of groceries for a month for the families of 300 such affected priests in the neighbourhood of its 13 locations.
On 30th June 2021, A Sivasubramaniyan, Revenue Officer, Thirubhuvanai, Elango, Village Administrative Officer, Madagadipet, distributed grocery kits to families of priests from areas around Thirubhuvanai.
Each kit consists of 25 Kg of rice, and groceries including Toor Dhall, Rava, Wheat flour, idli rice, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper, and cumin seeds.

Sevalaya steps in to provide necessary support to covid affected pregnant ladies at Zaminendathur Government hospital.
Great care is taken in all households to provide the best nutrition to pregnant women in the the house to ensure that the mother and the growing baby are in good health.
But we are now going through difficult times and many bread earners, especially from the lower rungs of society, are without jobs, finding it difficult to sustain their families. Problems get compounded when pregnant women in these families get affected by COVID. They then need to be given special care in all aspects.
Sensing this requirement, Sevalaya with the support of philanthropic individuals has stepped in to provide 3 meals a day for 15 days to 15 covid affected pregnant women at Zamin Endathur Government Hospital.
The tasty, nutritious food also has necessary ingredients to improve the immunity of the pregnant mothers.

Sanitation kits worth ₹550/ each were distributed to frontline health workers in Thiruvallur and dry ration kits worth ₹2000/ each were distributed to 113 families in Thiruvallur District, who had lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic.

Vasavi Seva Foundation, USA has donated Oxygen Concentrators which were handed over by Sevalaya to Primary Health Centre at Thalavady Village,120 km from Erode, on 3rd June 2021.
Thalavady Village has many tribal families. The nearest GH is 54 km away from the village. Like any other medical facility in the state, the Primary Health centre is in need of Oxygen to treat Covid-19 patients.

Velliyur, a village in Thiruvallur District has a Primary Health Centre, (PHC) serving people from 40 neighbouring villages. The villagers are either agricultural labourers or brick kiln workers. The PHC has now been converted into COVID Care Centre. Nearly 150 people are tested and treated at the centre every day. Like any other medical facility in the state, this centre is also in need of oxygen to treat the COVID patients. Patients who need advanced treatment are shifted from here to the nearest Govt hospital at Thiruvallur which is 8 Kms from this village.

“If this situation continues, we will not have even ₹10 in our hands” was the cry of a member of the Irula community in Thiruvallur District.
Sevalaya swung into action after reading this report in a weekly magazine. After obtaining permission from the Superintendent of Police of Thiruvallur District, relief materials were distributed to 42 Irula families in Keezhapoondi village near Podhatturpet in Pallipattu Taluk, Thiruvallur District. Each relief kit consists of rice, Toor Dhall, Coconuts, fried gram, Sugar, tamarind and salt.

Each kit consists of 5Kg of rice, 1Kg toor dhall, 1Kg salt, 1 litre oil, 100 grams chilli powder, 200 grams coriander powder, 50 grams sambar powder, 250 grams tamarind, 500 grams wheat flour, 500 grams sugar , 50 grams tea dust, 1 toilet Soap, 2 nos detergent soaps and milk powder.

T Oviya, a student of std VII in Sevalaya's Mahakavi Bharathiyar higher secondary school is a busy girl these days. With the schools closing down due to statewide lockdown on account of COVID 19, Oviya has found a way to join the fight against Corona. A resident of Palavedu village, Oviya spends the day stitching facemasks out of cotton cloth. She stitches nearly 20 masks every day and distributes it to the villagers free of cost.
"I learnt facemasks are essential to protect ourselves and prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Face masks are not available here, in villages. So I decided to use my time to stitch masks out of cotton cloth. I distribute them to families in my village and the nearby villages." says Oviya.

Our medical team, headed by Dr. Gajalakshmi, and assisted by staff nurses, nursing assistants, in its well-equipped mobile medical van, visited 4 villages – Kasuva, Magaral, Nathamedu and Perumalpattu - in Thiruvallur district to create awareness among the villagers about the Corona pandemic. The doctor also stressed upon the fact that even people with a strong immune system and are not infected can act as carriers and hence everyone should compulsorily stay inside. “Self - isolation is the only way to contain the spread of the virus” was the doctor’s advice.
