1. I began my workday with 15-30 seconds of silence to calm my mind and heart as I sat in the car before walking into work.
2. As I walked to the door I would pray, “Father, give me awareness of where your presence is at in each conversation I am going to have today. May I be simply one thing for one person today. Holy Spirit, empower me to become and embody prayer today. May I demonstrate the Gospel with how I love, how I listen, and how I respond to those around me. Jesus, may you open up a deep conversation with someone whether it’s one of my coworkers or with a customer."
3. I would greet everyone with a smile as I walk in the door. This was intentional. I would literally start smiling right before I walked through the door as there were always people looking as I walked inside. Sometimes I hummed or walked in singing quietly. I want to be clothed in joy at the beginning of my day. I viewed this as a prophetic act of fighting off any heaviness that I could be walking into. As a part of this step, I asked people how they were doing, and I didn’t just ask it as a greeting. The Lord may highlight depending on the responses who my “one person” was that day to have an intentional conversation with.
4. I took a few moments to listen. I asked the Lord to speak to me about if there’s a coworker He wanted me to intentionally talk with, or if there is a prophetic encouragement for a customer He desired for me to share. I didn’t always hear something during this time, but if I did I wrote it down in my phone. Giving space for God to speak for your workday is absolutely vital!
5. I would then walk to my assigned section and touch each table as I prayed and prophesied over them. I already would check on my specific tables to begin my day anyway, now I was just partnering that with prayer. I would pray “God, would people feel loved by me at these tables. Jesus, would you give me an opportunity to share the Gospel with whoever sits in these seats. Bless each person as they walk in and sit down. Holy Spirit, would you heal emotions and even heal bodies if it be in your will for today. Amen.”
