Problem Declaration

Problem Statement:

We noticed initially that a great deal of water pooled on the top of this awning. Any water that did get into the pipe then went into the storm drain. This was more water leaving our property and less we were holding. Additionally, this area, which is part of a main thoroughfare through our campus, was very unattractive and drab.

Objectives:

We will determine why the water is pooling and not flowing, then we will install a rain barrel to capture the water that falls through the pipe. We will design and plant a new garden using native plants. These plants will be watered with the rain water caught in the rain barrel.
