Summer 2025
As the school year comes to a close and we welcome the summer season, I want to thank you all for a wonderful first year as principal—it has been a joy to work with our students, staff, and families. A special congratulations goes out to our fifth graders on reaching an exciting milestone as they transition to the Jr.-Sr. High School. We are so proud of you and will miss you dearly! Please be sure to check your child’s Friday Folder, which contains important end-of-year documents including iReady reports, ILEARN results, Report Cards, and more. As tradition, we will have class lists posted on the door at the elementary during Freedom Festival. Below, you’ll find helpful information about our summer camp opportunities, the summer food program, registration details, and the calendar for the upcoming school year. Wishing you a safe, fun, and relaxing summer!

Summer Reading Program
I encourage all students to take part in the Summer Reading Program at the Shelby County Public Library! This year’s theme, “Color Our World,” is designed to inspire creativity and engage readers of all ages through artistic expression. To complete the program, students simply need to read for 10 hours by July 12. Those who meet the goal will be invited to a celebratory pool party on Monday, July 14. Don’t miss the exciting Kick-Off Mess Fest on June 2 from 3–6 p.m.—a great opportunity to get signed up and learn more about the program!
Please be sure to pay any outstanding balances for the 24-25 school year. If you have any questions, please contact our Director of Dining, Allison Kunz at akunz@ses.k12.in.us.
Thank you to our newly elected officers for the 25-26 school year. We have three volunteers that stepped up to share the president's role, Lauren Stodgell, Jess DeHart, and Heidi Nash-Kniffen. Kylee Thomas is our treasurer and Cassey Knepp is secretary. We appreciate your willingness to help our students, staff, and community. Meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the WES Library. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, July 30th. We hope to see you there!
