May 2026
We are quickly closing in on the end of the school year! While this time of year can feel busy and sometimes a bit stressful with state testing and end of year assessments, we hope it is also filled with excitement and celebration. There is so much to look forward to in these final weeks, from field trips and special events to graduations and other fun activities that mark the close of a successful year. Be sure to check out the upcoming events listed in this month’s newsletter and your child’s classroom newsletter so you do not miss a thing. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone at 765 544 3331 or by email at bgarrison@ses.k12.in.us. We are here to support you and help make this end of year experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

WES is excited to announce that Field Day will be held on Friday, May 15! Students will have a blast participating in a variety of fun activities, including a bounce house, gaga ball, pickle ball, relay races, a dance party, and more. Thank you to all the parents and guardians that have volunteered to help run stations and donate supplies. To ensure your child is ready for a day of fun, please make sure they are dressed appropriately and wearing tennis shoes. There will be a few water activities, so students may get a little wet, and while we will provide water bottles, we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child before they come to school. The rain make-up day will be on Wednesday, May 20. We can't wait for a fun-filled day of games and excitement!
We’re getting ready for an exciting Field Day at WES on May 15, and we need your help! To make the day even more special, we are asking for donations of individually wrapped bags of chips, bottles of water, popsicles, or bags of candy. If you’re able to contribute, please have all donations sent in by May 8. If you would like to volunteer to work field day, reach out to the front office or your child's teacher. Your support is greatly appreciated, and it will help make Field Day a fun and memorable experience for all of our students. Thank you for your generosity!

Graduations and End of the Year 🎓 Celebrations 🎓
As the school year comes to a close, we are excited to celebrate some of our students who are making big transitions. Our fifth-grade graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the elementary gym, where we will recognize their achievements and hard work. After the ceremony, students will be able to go home with their parents. That same day, we will also celebrate our kindergarten graduates with a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. We are also looking forward to our Pre-K end-of-year celebration, which will take place on Friday, May 8. These milestones are special moments for our students and families, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!
Grades 3-5 finished up their ILEARN testing. Result should be available sometime in September through the Parent Portal. Teachers provided your login information during parent-teacher conferences. Grades 2-4 that have not passed IREAD will take the test again this year. The window opens May 11. You can also view IREAD scores through the Parent Portal. If you have any questions or need help, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the front office.
Thank you to our newly elected officers. We have three volunteers that stepped up to fill the roles for next year. Thank you to Heidi Nash-Kniffen, President; Crystal Barnard, treasurer; and Cassey Knepp, secretary. We appreciate your willingness to help our students, staff, and community. We hope you will sign up to volunteer and support our PTO during back to school night on Tuesday, August 4.
