May 2025
We are quickly closing in on the end of the school year! While this time of year can certainly feel busy and sometimes a bit stressful—with state testing and end-of-year assessments—we hope it's also filled with excitement and celebration. There’s so much to look forward to in these final weeks, from field trips and special events to graduations and other fun activities that mark the close of a successful year. Be sure to check out the upcoming events listed in this month’s newsletter and teachers' classroom newsletters so you don’t miss a thing. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone at 765-544-3331 or by email at bgarrison@ses.k12.in.us. We’re here to support you and help make this end-of-year experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. On a personal note, I want to thank all of you for making this such a great first year as principal. It has truly been a pleasure getting to know our students, staff, and families, and I’m so grateful for the warm welcome and support you’ve shown throughout the year.
~Mrs. Garrison
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up from May 5-9, and the PTO has planned a week full of gifts and celebrations to honor our amazing teachers. This is the perfect time to show your gratitude for all the hard work, dedication, and care that the teachers give to our students and families every day. We encourage you to send in thank-you letters or a special treat to make our teachers feel appreciated. Let’s come together to celebrate their tireless efforts and make them feel special during this week of recognition. Thank you for helping us show our teachers just how much they mean to us!
Congratulations to our April Mohawks of the Month! Great job making good decisions and setting a positive example for others!

Keep up the good work!
WES is excited to announce that Field Day will be held on Monday, May 19! Students will have a blast participating in a variety of fun activities, including a bounce house, gaga ball, kickball, relay races, a dance party, and more. Thank you to all the parents and guardians that have volunteered to help run stations and help out with activities. To ensure your child is ready for a day of fun, please make sure they are dressed appropriately and wearing tennis shoes. There will be a few water activities, so students may get a little wet, and while we will provide water bottles, we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child before they come to school. The rain make-up day will be on Friday, May 23. We can't wait for a fun-filled day of games and excitement!
Donations Needed
We’re getting ready for an exciting Field Day at WES on May 19, and we need your help! To make the day even more special, we are asking for donations of individually wrapped bags of chips or pretzels. If you’re able to contribute, please have all donations sent in by May 9. Your support is greatly appreciated, and it will help make Field Day a fun and memorable experience for all of our students. Thank you for your generosity!
Graduations and End of the Year Celebrations
As the school year comes to a close, we are excited to celebrate some of our students who are making big transitions. Our fifth-grade graduation will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the elementary gym, where we will recognize their achievements and hard work. After the ceremony, students will be able to go home with their parents. That same day, we will also celebrate our kindergarten graduates with a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. We are also looking forward to our Pre-K end-of-year celebration, which will take place on Wednesday, May 21. These milestones are special moments for our students and families, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!
