The AAFH is a research institute dedicated to the encouragement of the study of the Franciscan Order in the Americas.

A resource for those interested, passionate or just curious about the culture of Alta California, including its Spanish missions, native peoples, settlers and explorers.

Founded in 1998, the California Missions Foundation was established with the objective of preserving and protecting the missions.

Created by a preeminent group directly engaged in Mission studies who participated in the NEH Landmarks of American History and Culture Summer Workshops for School Teachers in the California missions in July 2013.
