For the last project we were project created a book cover for a book that we have read in the past. The book that I chose was Richard Connell's, The Most Dangerous Game. I really thought the Something Strange font really embodied what the story was about and gave a sort of ominous vibe.
For these projects we wanted to create a poster that symbolized Daily Dishonesty, we all picked a phrase and mine happened to be, "The food was good." I then created the poster to symbolize the phrase and idea using a contemporary style.
My favorite book cover was Mile’s Frankenstein cover with the burnt wood board, I think the idea was very creative and really captured a key moment from the book. I also liked how he stamped the title and author’s name onto the cover, I think the font looked like something from a mystery film. I do wish that he could have made the burn marks look more like a lightning strike, but the circumstances didn’t allow for it.
On the other hand, I really didn’t like Judith’s version of Pride and Prejudice. I think the idea flip the text made it very hard to read and the color choice didn’t make it any easier. But at least she didn’t misspell Austen.
These are my inspirations for my Daily Dishonesty pieces.
Black Ops One, Caviar Dreams
For this project we used the pen tool in Illustrator to trace a picture of our side profile. After this we choose two words that we thought describes ourselves. After we chose our words, we chose a font that we thought would convey the idea of the word.
orange juice, Doctor Glitch
Audiowide, Exo 2 Thin
These are a couple of ways I conveyed denotative images of a highlighter. A denotative image describes an object exactly how it is.
Similarly I used connotative images to convey the idea of a highlighter. A connotative images conveys a feeling as well as the idea of the object.
This was my favorite connotative image.
In this activity we were asked to pick to topics from a box, mine being organic shapes and contrast (low). I then created an image using only those to topic, this image being the final result.
This image is from the same activity but belongs to Cass. We were asked to add another image that we admired. I really liked his because it reminded me of something that had been thrown away then reused.
In this activity we wanted to highlight the principles of graphic design. We did this by using contrast to portray our six principles , balance, proximity, alignment, repetition, contrast, and white space.
