I wrote this article with my grandmother's story in mind. I aimed to capture the horrors of the Japanese internment camps, while also raising awareness on how we, as a society, can move forward. One of my proudest moments was when this was published, because I felt as if I could bring stories of my heritage to a broader audience.

This article was inspired by my interest in a new life-sciences focused campus that was moving in right across the street from my neighborhood. I had been hearing debates about the new construction plans via my neighbors and other Redwood Shores residents. I was able to interview local citizens on their views and also look around the Redwood LIFE buildings.

I debated with many people to get different perspectives on the matter, and while some didn't agree with me that the geese should be spared, I was still able to get solid information out to more people.
