Ways to help
SEPTL is totally dependent on volunteers who are members just like you! There are so many
opportunities. You can help members borrow tools or work behind the scenes.
Want to help? That'd be so great.

WORK A SHIFT. IT'S FUN!
You do NOT need any special knowledge about tools, only a willingness to help out and connect with your neighbors.
Beginners always have an experienced volunteer to help teach and support them. Please let us know if it's your first-time volunteering and we can set you up for success.
Experienced volunteers you are so very appreciated. You've learned for yourself how satisfying it is to help your neighbors get things done. Thanks for your continued support!
BEHIND THE SCENES
Help us repair tools, take tool photos, maintain the seed library, raise money, join our Board, and so much more...
DONATE
SEPTL is built upon the the generosity and goodwill of its borrowers, donors, volunteers and the community.
We appreciate both monetary and tool donations:
Monetary donations:
All donations help us replace consumables, repair tools, support our volunteer events, and purchase the new tools you want most!
Donations can be made in person at the Tool Library using credit card, cash or check.
The one-time, optional Enrollment Donation is always given at the time of your visit, not here.
You can donate right now (but not Enrollment Donations, please):
By Credit Card at Square
By Check, mailed to: SEPTL, PO Box 86162, Portland, OR 97286
At Fred Meyer Community Rewards. They will then donate a smidge of their own profits to us each time you shop.
Tax Deductible: We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization, so your credit/debit card or check donations can be tax deductible. Our EIN : 46-1022290
Non-tax deductible: Cash donations and payment of Late Fines in any form are not tax deductible.
Due to the overwhelming generosity of our members we need to suspend walk-in tool donations. If you have a tool donation, please use our Contact page to make arrangements. THANKS!
All tool donations are tax deductible. We are happy to provide you with a receipt for your records.
For a complete listing of the items we can, and can not, accept please view our wish list.
For space and liability concerns, gasoline-powered tools, damaged tools, and inherently dangerous items (like chainsaws and framing nailers) are not accepted.
SEPTL may sell surplus donated items and use the proceeds towards other tool purchases, or we may transfer items to other tool libraries, or donate to other charitable organizations.
For any questions regarding tool donations, please don’t hesitate to ask.
