Our central idea:

People and events impact society.

To explore our central idea we each researched a person who has made an impact on our world. We then turned our research into podcasts you can listen to. Many are about people from history and a few are still alive and making changes today. We used books, podcasts, websites and videos to take lots of notes about these people and the events that happened in their lives. Some of the stories we read were sad. Some were amazing. Some had some pretty complicated history about them which we needed to learn about.

We then listened to lots of podcasts to learn about their sound. We met Mr. Moniz, from Inspire Citizens. His job is to inspire citizens, like us. And he was pretty inspiring. He taught us how to use a cool program to record called SoundTrap and got us super excited about telling all our stories so that they made an impact. Thanks Mr. Mo!

Next, we read lots of biographies to learn about how they organized. Then we wrote using all of our great notes. Looking at mentor podcasts really helped us. A big thank you to Bedtime History’s Podcast, that you should check out, as this podcast really helped inspire ours. We tried to tell the important parts of our person’s life in a creative and interesting way. We hope we demonstrated their story and small moments of their life in a standard that you can understand and see why we choose that person.

We learned a lot from using Soundtrap. We recorded, what felt like, billions of times and failed a billions times and recorded billions of times and failed a billions times and so on. Each time our recordings improved. After we recorded our voices, we were faced with another challenge. We had to choose the music that we enjoyed and add it in our recording. But all that time, we were trying to figure out how to do this and do that. Recording was a whole new concept for us. Our voice had to be calm and steady. Sometimes we went too fast. Sometimes we sounded like a ‘reading off a script robot’. It was hard but we managed it.

To write our script, we had to study and study and study. We researched, wrote our draft, edited, and wrote our final draft. Recording was a challenge, but we made it through! We hope you enjoy our podcast we worked hard on.

We’ve got a lot of podcasts you can listen to coming toward you!

Here is our Significant Voices Podcast, also known as Cool Humans from History, also known as Biocast - we had so many great ideas for podcast names!

- Thank you Rua for helping to write this summary of our Podcast process.

Enjoy listening to these podcasts, but please remember the real celebration is for the skills and knowledge the students of 4L gained in the process of making these.
