APPLICATION OVERVIEW

Step 1: Submit your Application

Our Class of 2029 application is open from September 1st - December 31st. Please note that SEO Scholars is rolling admissions. Next steps and updates will depend on when a student submits their application.

Fall Priority Deadline is October 24, 2025

Final Deadline is December 31st, 2025

The application includes 2 essays (250 words minimum), student information, parent information, grade submissions, and income verification. Please refer to the following guides for accepted documents.

Step 2: Diagnostic Exam

If it seems like a good fit, we will invited students to complete a 90-minute Diagnostic Exam that will cover ELA (reading and writing) and math. All students are required to complete the diagnostic exam by the given deadline for their application to be considered.

Failure to submit the diagnostic exam by the deadline will result in a student's application being moved to the next admission deadline or being denied.

Step 3: SEO Staff Interviews

In addition to a Diagnostic Exam, students will also be invited participate in a SEO Staff Interview, during which you can get to know SEO staff members, share more about yourself, and why you want to join SEO Scholars. You can also ask questions to help determine if you want to continue moving forward with the application process.

Step 4: Accept Admissions to SEO Scholars

Acceptance letters are sent to students with additional instructions regarding how to confirm participation in the program including deadlines.

Apply for Fall Priority learn of your admissions status by mid-December.

Apply for Final Deadline learn of your admissions status by end-January.

Step 5: Become an SEO Scholar

Newly admitted scholars and their families attend Family Orientation in February 2026, during which they get to meet their new peers, continue learning about our program expectations and opportunities, and officially join the SEO Scholars family!

Eligibility Requirements

Before you apply make sure you:

Will be a 9th Grader in Fall 2025

Attend a school within the SF / Bay Area

Have a GPA of at least 3.0 at time of application AND maintain a 3.0 during your 9th Grade Fall Semester (no grades lower than a C allowed)

Have a household income lower than $135,000 per year
