Our Class of 2029 application is now closed.
The application includes 2 essays (250 words minimum), student information, parent information, grade submissions, and income verification. Please refer to the following guides for accepted documents.

If it seems like a good fit, we will invited students to complete a 90-minute Diagnostic Exam that will cover ELA (reading and writing) and math. All students are required to complete the diagnostic exam by the given deadline for their application to be considered.
Failure to submit the diagnostic exam by the deadline will result in a student's application being moved to the next admission deadline or being denied.
In addition to a Diagnostic Exam, students will also be invited participate in a SEO Staff Interview, during which you can get to know SEO staff members, share more about yourself, and why you want to join SEO Scholars. You can also ask questions to help determine if you want to continue moving forward with the application process.
Acceptance letters are sent to students with additional instructions regarding how to confirm participation in the program including deadlines.
Apply for Fall Priority learn of your admissions status by mid-December.
Apply for Final Deadline learn of your admissions status by end-January.
Newly admitted scholars and their families attend Family Orientation in February 2027, during which they get to meet their new peers, continue learning about our program expectations and opportunities, and officially join the SEO Scholars family!
Before you apply make sure you:
Will be a 9th Grader in Fall 2026
Attend a public high school within the SF / Bay Area
Traditional High School and Charter schools apply
Have a GPA of at least 3.0 (student cannot have any D, F or equivalent failing or incomplete grades) at time of application AND
Students are also expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA with no D or failing/incomplete grades during your 9th Grade Fall Semester or admissions offer will be rescinded.
Have a household income lower than $144,000 per year
Families must be able to provide a 1040 tax form to confirm family size and income. If families are unable to provide a 1040 tax forms, please email sfadmissions@seo-usa.org to discuss alternative income forms for submission.
