NCLEX Information for BSNs

General NCSBN & NCLEX Information

DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR NCLEX APPLICATION TO THE VIRGINIA BOARD OF NURSING MORE THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO GRADUATING! This is a note directly from the Virginia Board of Nursing. Applying earlier can cause delays in your application being processed.

If your application asks for the date of graduation, please use May 3, 2024. You can submit your application to the Board of Nursing after April 19th.

For latest/updated information please visit the NCLEX - Next Generation website. Please check out the site, it has a lot of valuable information!

Apply for the NCLEX through the Virginia Board of Nursing and register to sit for the exam through Pearson VUE.

Transcripts for NCLEX

If you are testing in the state of Virginia, you do not need to order a transcript. The college automatically sends over the approved attestation form once you have officially graduated and completed all necessary graduation requirements (e.g. turning in your badge).

Click here to complete the form to indicate where you are testing. The form is due by May 3, 2024.

Retake Policy for NCLEX

From NCSBN:

Candidates who need to retake the NCLEX can start their reregistration process after receiving their result. They will need to notify their Nursing Regulatory Body (NRB) that they plan on retaking the examination and fulfill any necessary requirements, as well as reregister with Pearson VUE. While the process can start quickly, it is important to note that there must be 45 test-free days between each examination.

The NCSBN retake policy allows candidates to take the NCLEX eight times per year unless the desired jurisdiction of licensure/registration only offers a limited amount of NCLEX exams per year. Candidates are encouraged to contact their NRB to learn about their policy on NCLEX retakes.
