Origins
SeniorNet started in New Zealand in 1992. SeniorNet Rotorua started in 1995 as a charitable trust. It switched to become an incorporated society in 2011 and affiliated to the NZ SeniorNet Federation in 2012. We were originally based at the Regency Park retirement village in a room generously provided by the owners, and we ran classes there for our members for some 20 years. In 2019, the village changed hands, and the new owners subsequently advised us that they needed the room for their purposes, and so we moved out in 2021. Since then, we have shifted our focus to become a volunteer community service dedicated to helping all older Rotorua people in their use of technology.
