At Sprouts Chef Training, we equip youth to rise from hardship through culinary training and job placement. Youth are paired with a chef mentor and case manager to develop the skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job. Graduates use these entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries. Since 2012, dozens of young adults have landed first-time, competitive jobs in the modern restaurant industry.

Our specialty is training low/no-income Californians in the skills needed to start a career in the food industry and land their first good job. Since 2000, we have supported more than 2,000 residents of the Oakland/ San Francisco Bay Area to remove barriers to employment, skill-up, and get hired.
We're creating pathways to employment with local food businesses by providing paid kitchen and culinary training for community members facing barriers to employment, with a focus on the re-entry population.
