WELCOME TO CATALYST ACADEMY!
Prior to entering the mental health field, I was an elementary/middle school teacher for over 10 years. Working with children has been a lifelong passion and when I considered a career change I knew, naturally, I would continue to work with youth. I, Mary Therese Ramirez-Larouche, AMFT, received my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Mary’s College June 2015. While studying for the Master of Arts, I interned at a K-8 school in Benicia, CA and discovered my desire was to continue to provide therapeutic services to children. I accepted the position of Classroom Therapist with Catalyst Academy, September 2015. In this role I provide individual, group, and family therapy services in English and Spanish. My attention, in the area of professional development, is focused on trauma-informed care, cultural competency, expressive arts, and Collaborative Problem Solving.

“My name is Chris and I am a therapist at Catalyst. I enjoy working with students of all ages as well as caregivers and other support people. First and foremost I value building healthy relationships with everyone within the Catalyst community. I value intersectionality of identities and radical acceptance of folks as they are. My work begins with myself and I continue to learn, grow, and reflect on harmful things I’ve picked up from this often harsh society while practicing self-love. My interests are all over the place and I like to dabble in a bit of everything rather than pursue one thing. I’m energetic and bring that energy to the day to day. I believe school should be fun and set up to meet youth where they’re at instead of the opposite.”
