William “Bill” Jansen is a highly accomplished public safety professional with nearly two decades of experience across Emergency Medical Services, law enforcement, flight paramedicine, and tactical medicine. He began his career in 2005 and earned his National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification in 2007 through Stony Brook University.
In addition to his distinguished public service career, Bill is the Founder and CEO of Pulse Check Education, a healthcare training platform delivering CAPCE-accredited online and in-person education for EMS clinicians at all levels. He also serves as CEO of Wilco Consulting LLC, a premier organization specializing in public safety education, tactical medicine training, and operational readiness consulting for agencies nationwide.
Bill’s unique combination of real-world operational experience, advanced instructional expertise, and leadership in high-risk environments has established him as a respected leader and educator in the public safety and healthcare training industries.
His teaching philosophy is grounded in three core principles—Readiness, Safety, and Operational Excellence—equipping professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform at the highest level in the most demanding conditions.
Besides serving in his current role of an EMS Division Chief, Mike is a passionate
speaker who addresses agencies and organizations on the critical importance of
discussing topics often overlooked in the First Responder realm. He emphasizes
the serious consequences that can arise when those difficult conversations are
avoided. Mike remains a strong advocate for the mental fitness and wellness of
First Responders, dedicating his efforts to supporting those who serve our
communities.
Jimmy Apple, NRP, known across social media and the EMS education community as EMS Avenger, is a pediatric and neonatal critical-care paramedic, educator, and national speaker dedicated to elevating clinical excellence and compassion in prehospital care. With a career rooted in frontline EMS experience, Jimmy blends evidence-based medicine, engaging storytelling, and a strong advocacy voice to challenge outdated practices and inspire providers to think differently.
Jimmy is widely recognized for his high-impact educational content, including viral social media teaching segments, conference keynotes, and innovative presentations. His work emphasizes evidence-based and data-driven best practices, progressive resuscitation, pediatric care, provider well-being, and the power of kindness in emergency medicine.
Through the EMS Avenger platform, Jimmy creates accessible, high-energy educational material for EMS clinicians around the world, aiming to uplift a profession too often overlooked. His teaching philosophy is simple: better care begins with curiosity, humility, and kindness.
When he’s not on the road speaking, creating educational content, or producing the next EMS Avenger project, Jimmy continues to advocate for EMS providers, reminding them that their work matters — and that they matter, too.
Bryan’s EMS career began in 1980 as a volunteer as an EMT for Earth EMS in Earth, Texas. Over the next ten years he continued his volunteer role in several West Texas communities where his employment took him. In 1988, an opportunity arose for a full-time career Paramedic position with Seminole EMS which was accepted.
The years from 1988-2017 were filled with many challenges and rewards. Included were the formation of the Seminole EMS Training Program (Founder and Director), Serving as Assistant Director (1992-2000) and then Director of EMS (2000-2017). In addition, Bryan served on the SPEMS board and was involved in the development of the TSA-B Regional Advisory Committee where he served as RAC Chair and Executive Board member. Bryan also served on GTAC EMS Committee.
Bryan retired from Seminole EMS in December of 2017. With the five years of SEMTVA service, Bryan enjoyed 34 years of service in Seminole. Following retirement from Seminole EMS, Bryan worked for Acute Medical Services as West Texas Division Vice-President before permanent retirement in 2019.
Bryan now resides at Lake Brownwood, Texas with wife Sharon and faithful dog Scout. Time is spent enjoying lake life and traveling in the fifth wheel trailer.
James R. Williams as been a New Mexico resident for over 40 years, has been actively involved in fire and EMS for over 30 years. He has served in the capacity as Fire Chief for the Lovington Fire Department, and recently retired as City Manager for the City of Lovington, New Mexico. Although his municipal government service has ended, he continues to serve the public in the capacity as a Flight Paramedic for Med-Trans, serving with Aerocare IX in Hobbs, New Mexico and as a Paramedic in the emergency department of Nor Lea Hospital in Lovington, New Mexico.
James also currently serves as the Lea County, New Mexico Representative of the Eastern New Mexico Emergency Medical Services Corporation (EMS Region I & III) Board of Directors as President. James also serves as a member of the New Mexico Statewide EMS Advisory Committee and has served on the New Mexico Municipal Fire Chiefs Board of Directors. In his capacity as City Manager, James served on the board of Directors for the New Mexico City Management Association, chairperson of the Southeastern New Mexico Regional Transportation Policy Committee, as well as President of the Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District/Council of Governments. In recognition for his public service, he has been honored with being named the 2012 Rotary Local Hero and been recognized with the 2020 NM EMS Bureau Governors Award.
James has been speaking at various conferences in New Mexico and across the United States for over a decade. He is well known for his passion and dedication for EMS and strives to see it progress. His presentations are enjoyable due to his sense of humor, pleasant personality, and the ability to make individuals "think outside the box" so they can deal with common and future problems they, as providers, may face.
James is also sought out for his ability to create sound policy and strategy for local government organizations. During his tenure in City Management, James has presented educational topics to not only his management team but for his peers throughout the State of New Mexico. After his retirement from municipal government, James lends his 30 years of government service experience to others and is available to consult and assist with local government needs.
Nathan VanDenburgh
Nathan VanDenburgh started EMS in the Seminole EMS training program in 2009. He went on to attend the South Plains College ems program completing in 2014. He has been working ground IFT and 911 since 2009. He has also worked as a flight paramedic obtaining his FP-C in 2019. Nathan completed his Associates in Emergency Medical Services in 2019. He currently serves as a volunteer with Seminole EMS along with contract work out of state. When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and his pug Chiquita.
Chad Curry
James Chad Curry has dedicated nearly three decades to advancing emergency medical services through leadership, education, and critical care transport. Currently serving as Certified Flight Paramedic with AeroCare-Lubbock, Chad is widely recognized for his expertise in EMS education, disaster response, and prehospital critical care. He has served in multiple leadership roles with the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force and has contributed to statewide EMS initiatives through GETAC committees and legislative outreach. Throughout his career, Chad has received numerous honors for leadership, education, and humanitarian service, while also contributing to nationally recognized EMS research and innovation.
