Graduate
Faisal Alzyoud, originally from Jordan, began his graduate studies in the ISAT program in Fall 2024. His background is in the field of electrical engineering. He is responsible for the design, assembly, and testing of the electrical circuits for the crocodile tracking project. In addition, Faisal will analyze the movement patterns of crocodiles using machine learning and will program the remote sensing devices to ensure their effectiveness in the field.
Maggie McGreal is a graduate research assistant who will be involved in monitoring wildlife in the lake through the collection and handling of physiological data, primarily focusing on frogs and alligators. She will also be involved in investigating the demographics of alligators through a large-scale mark-recapture program and will be working in a collaborative team towards the development of satellite trackers to collect data on alligator movement and space use patterns.
Undergraduate
Christian Blank is an undergraduate student contributing to our lab's crocodile tracking project. His primary responsibilities include the design of the outer housing for the tracking device, ensuring it is both durable and capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions. In addition, Christian is tasked with designing the solar panel system, which will provide a sustainable power source for the device. His work focuses on integrating the solar panels into the housing in a way that maximizes energy efficiency while maintaining the device's compact and robust form factor. Christian’s contributions are essential to the development of a reliable and self-sustaining tracking system.
