Check Your MLA Citation Formating

NoodleTools - Online Works Cited (bibliography) Creator

To Log-in to Account:

  • Select: Google Drive

  • Select: Google Apps

  • Scroll down through the apps until you see the person with their arms raised

  • Select: NoodleTools

**First Time User:

    1. Select: Google

    2. Select: Your Google Account

Setting Up NoodleTools

--CREATE A PROJECT-- ​

  • Select NEW PROJECT button (top left)

  • Create a TITLE - your research topic

  • Citation Style - MLA 8th edition (unless your teacher wants you to use APA)

  • Citation Level: ADVANCED


This video explains the three different ways to create a citation.

  • Some databases will let you import the citation directly into NoodleTools.

  • You can copy and paste the citation.

  • You can use the fill in the blank.

--CREATE A SOURCE-- ​

  1. Select : SOURCES tab (middle top of screen)

  2. Select: Create NEW CITATION (green button)

  3. Choose TYPE of SOURCE used:

    • Database (Gale, ProQuest, Sweet Search, etc.)

    • Website (webpage, magazine, newspaper, reference source-encyclopedia: Britannica, Cavendish Square, etc.)

    • Print (book, encyclopedia - World Book, etc., newspaper)

    • File, app, e-book etc. (film, movie, video recording or clip - YouTube, music)

  4. Fill in as much information as you can locate from source

  5. SAVE before leaving source section

Creating A Works Cited Page

--Once All Your Sources Are Entered-- ​

  • Select SOURCES (middle top of the screen)

  • Select Print/Export - use the dropdown menu to select Print/Export to Google Doc. This will automatically format your Works Cited page in MLA style.

  • You can then copy and paste the entire page onto the page of your Google Doc if you are doing a written project or you can copy and paste it directly to the last page in your Google Slides.
