Below are some helpful tips when it comes to studying for and passing your insurance licensing exam!
✏️Be prepared! There is no substitute for studying. If you haven't reviewed the information, it is hard to recall it. Use whatever strategies you find most helpful in studying. Some examples would be:
Flash cards
Have someone quiz you on the materials
Explain what you're learning to someone else
Rewrite the material in your own words
Utilizing the tools within the pre-licensing company site (videos, quizzes, practice exams, etc)
✏️Take advantage of the practice exams! These will help you gauge the types of questions that you could expect to see, as well as help you discover any material you may need to revisit.
✏️Make a review sheet. Use the feedback from your practice exams to create a review sheet to hone in on areas where you might need some extra review. Arrive early and bring it with you to review in the car before you go into the testing center. This way, the information is fresh in your mind!
✏️Pace yourself. Don't spend too much time on one question. It's a timed exam, so if you spend too much time on a question you are stumped on, you might run out of time and miss out on earning points for questions you're more confident on! You need 70% to get a passing score. If you find yourself looking at a question you have no idea how to answer, give it your best guess, write a note on your scratch paper (flag it), and move on with the exam.
✏️Use any leftover time to review the questions you flagged. If you're still guessing, use the process of elimination to get rid of obviously wrong answers.
✏️Trust your gut. Don't second-guess yourself out of the correct answer!
✏️Avoid cram sessions. Don't stay up all night the night before the exam, cramming, and wind up being groggy or overly stimulated because you drank too much coffee/energy drinks. Get to bed early and get a good night's rest.
✏️Practice mindfulness in the exam. If you find yourself getting worked up in the exam, take some deep breaths to get centered and then get back to the exam.
