FAQ & Help

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get my Chromebook repaired?

We are pleased to now be offering service to all SEL-issued Chromebooks needing repair for grades K-12.

In most cases, the repair cost for the device is the financial responsibility of the student/parent/guardian, and unpaid costs associated with the repair will be added to your child’s fee account. We will communicate with you the estimated cost of the repair once we have your device. Please contact your child's home school building to arrange for device pickup and drop off. If you need assistance, please feel free to contact Ms. Madelynn Dicillo at 216.691.2063, who can then put you in touch with the correct person/building!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be sure to bring the power brick and cord with the device when you drop it off, as this is necessary for us to complete troubleshooting!

How do I access my student's online material?

For most of your student’s online material, we are using their district-provided Google account in order for them to gain access to digital curriculum. This will make things easier because they will only need one password for most of the material! Here are the instructions for logging on with your student’s Google account:

  • FIRST, navigate to the South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools website (www.sel.k12.oh.us) and click on the “Parents & Students” tab, or use the links provided directly on this site - most of these are specialized links that will "force" you to log on with your SEL-provided Google account

  • NEXT, choose the link/material you would like to access with your student

    • Google Classroom - All of the teacher created Google Classrooms your student has access to

    • Wonders (McGraw Hill) - Online reading curriculum for grades K-6 (Wonders), 7th-grade Social Studies Material

    • Think Central - Go Math (K-5), Science Fusion (4-8)

    • Holt McDougal Online - Go Math (6-8), Collections (7-8)

    • ED: Your Friend in Learning - 8th-grade Social Studies Material

  • LAST, log on with your student using their SEL district-provided Google account. The account is their 5-digit Student ID number @sel.k12.oh.us

Is my Chromebook being filtered?

Web filtering is still provided on Chromebooks even though they are being used remotely. This is the same filtering process that is done while the Chromebooks are on campus.

What if my device isn't turning on?

If the Chromebook is not turning on make sure it is charged by plugging in the Chromebook and checking for a light near charge port on left side. Green means it is charged, yellow or red means it is charging. If it is not green then wait about 15 mintues before trying to turn on again.

How do I connect to WiFi?

Step One - Turn on WiFi

  • Select the WiFi button (bottom right, near time)

    • Select "Not Connected" (If you see your WiFi network name and signal strength, your Chromebook is connected to your network)

    • Turn on WiFi

    • Your Chromebook will automatically list available networks

  • Select and connect to your network

    • Select the network

    • Enter the network password (will be case sensitive)

    • Select "Connect"

Can we download apps, extensions, or other software to our Chromebooks?

Only apps and extensions that have been approved, or whitelisted, will be available for installation on a district-provided Chromebook.
