About Me

Hello! My name is Mia, and I am currently 13 years old. I am Japanese, Jewish, and a mix of European ethnicities. I also have a younger brother, Niki, who is 11 years old right now. I was born in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to Hawaii when I was 2 years old. I love my family, playing soccer, food, reading, and animals, especially cats. I have two cats named Tiger and Puma and one Opae Ula Hawaiian Super Shrimp, named Shrimpy Von Shrimp III. He is a proud 1 cm sized shrimp, and the reason why I named him “Shrimpy” is because of his size. It is very ironic because I am also very small for my age.

Tiger is the gray tabby cat on the stuffed animal (and in the photo to the left), and Puma is the black and white cat. We do not know their exact age and breed, because they were both strays at one point. We found Tiger when he was around 2 years old at my grandmother’s beach house, and Puma was given to my family by our neighbor when he was found in a warehouse. Puma was only 8 weeks old when we first got him. Now, he is about 2 and Tiger is  about 5 years old. I got Shrimpy when I was around 5 years old as a gift for coming to a party. His type of shrimp lives to be over 20 years old, so he will hopefully be around for a long time.

I play soccer for the club FC Hawaii in the league HYSA (Hawaii Youth Soccer Association). I have been playing there for almost a year, and my position is an attacking midfielder and a winger. I love playing soccer, and I practice with my team twice a week, with games on the weekend.

Also, FOOD! I love eating good food, and when my friend once asked me “Do you eat to live or live to eat,” my answer came easily - of course I live to eat! I love any kind of traditional Japanese or Italian food, including ramen, somen, and pasta. However, my favorite food is always going to be steak. Perhaps a bit unhealthy, but amazing!

In the future, I hope to find a college and  job that I enjoy so much it doesn’t even seem like a “school” or a “job” anymore; it would be all fun. I would like to do something with either soccer or animals, but otherwise, I have no specific idea of what I want to be when I grow up. Going forward, I am always going to do my best to be the type of person who always looks on the bright side of things and lives a long, happy life
