THE SIGN UP FOR CONFERENCES WAS ON THE THURSDAY TIDBITS.
Reading: We will be learning about the features of a play this week along with theme, the lesson we can learn from a story. (There is no place like home) We will continue to work with vocabulary from Unit 2 Weeks 3-4. In addition, we will have some focus on antonyms as one tool for discovering the meaning of an unknown word, context clues. We will have a quiz on Ranita, The Frog Princess. At the week's end, I may begin a listening skill sequence activity making cornhusk dolls with real cornhusk.
English: Throughout the week, learn about positional transition words that answer 'where'. I will construct a scarecrow in class with clothes and brown paper as the "straw". The children will use the verbal and visual instructions to write an explanatory paragraph using those positional transition words along with 1 or 2 possessive nouns. ( tie the shirt's wrist)
Social Studies: We will focus on our state's resources, water, forest, coal, natural gas, and oil. I hope to complete Chapter 3 Lesson 1. I am ending the week with a game day on a website sponsored by the Department of Energy.
