On September 11th. Our lessons will focus on a realistic fiction age appropriate picture book of the events of 9/11. We will do mapping skills of New York's Manhattan. In English, we will focus on building sentences about the events.
Reading: We will continue to build our knowledge of the qualities of a personal narrative along with sequence of events. Transition words will be introduced. Recognizing literary elements will be practiced. We will build new vocabulary and read a realistic fiction called Experts, Incorporated.
English: This week in English, our fourth graders will continue to develop their skills with sentences. We will especially focus on compound sentences and complex sentences.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we will read Lesson 2. The focus is longitude and latitude. We will label the Northeast states several times this week. Study them for a minute or two each day.
Spelling: We will learn the definitions and spellings of a group of long /e/ vowel sound words. They can be found in your child's planner and under the link above, Unit 3. I gave them homework to be completed by Wednesday, September 10th. Room 207 will have their test on Thursday, September 11th, but room 208 will be on Friday, September 12th.
