About the Art Classroom
Visual Arts Curriculum:
The Diocesan Art Curriculum coordinates with the National Standards for the Visual Arts.
The curriculum includes the following objectives:
*understanding media, techniques, and processes
*understanding the elements of art and principles of design
*evaluating subject matter
*understanding art as it relates to history
*reflection on the students' art as well as others'
*making connections between visual arts and other disciplines in the curriculum.
Completion of Art Projects:
Each art project is provided a specific amount of time. If a student is absent, they may be asked to schedule a time with the art teacher to complete the activity.
Materials Needed:
Sketchbook for Grades 2-8
All other art supplies will be provided within the Art room.
Student Art:
Most of the students' artwork will remain in the art classroom during the year, as they will be used for display. Student art may also be used for an art show during the last quarter of the school year.
