Security South is a locally owned Canterbury security business specializing in rural, domestic, and small commercial CCTV and alarm solutions. With nearly 20 years of hands-on experience, including two years as a consultant with the New Zealand Police, Matt is deeply committed to helping local communities feel safer. His work is driven by strong community relationships, practical solutions, and a proven track record of delivering real-world results that make a difference where it matters most.
Alongside CCTV and alarm systems, Matt has solid hands-on experience in IT and networking, allowing him to fix problems on site and adapt systems to real-world conditions, Matt has also picked up skills in 3D design and printing, allowing him to turn ideas into working solutions and build custom components where other options may not exist yet.

“My name is Jean-Pierre Derveaux, and I am the Operations Manager of Ashley Gorge Holiday Park and Reserve in North Canterbury.
Our property covers approximately 30 acres, including large areas of dense native bush. During busy summer days, we can have up to 800 people on site, which creates unique security and monitoring challenges.
I first met Matt while he was working as a security consultant with the New Zealand Police. At the time, we had trialed a security system from another company that unfortunately was not performing to the level required for our environment. Due to the size of the reserve, the challenging terrain, and limitations around power availability, we needed a specialized solution that was both reliable and practical.
