Sean-Patrick Alvarez
Welcome! I am an incoming Assistant Professor of Economics in the Gregory D. Brown Dept. of Finance, Economics & Accounting at Jacksonville State University. I am also a Research Fellow in the Political Economy Research Institute at Middle Tennessee State University
I am expected to complete my PhD in Economics in July, 2024. I graduated from Troy University magna cum laude in 2019 with a BS in Economics and minors in Mathematics and Spanish.
Research Interests:
My research interests include topics in Economic History, Public Choice, Historical Political Economy, and Transaction Cost Economics.
Current research projects I am a part of include examining the Economics of Slave Hiring and the Economics of Manumission in the Antebellum South; the Historical Political Economy of Barber's Licensure during the Progressive Era; and the relationship between Economic Freedom and Development.
