Your first visit is an opportunity to experience Annapolis Division firsthand. You'll meet our staff and cadets, observe training, and learn how the Sea Cadet program develops leadership, discipline, and confidence.

Prospective cadets are encouraged to ask questions, participate when appropriate, and see if the program is a good fit for their goals and interests.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Sea Cadets have access to training opportunities that go far beyond monthly drills. From recruit training and seamanship to STEM programs and leadership academies, cadets can pursue experiences that match their interests while building valuable life skills.

HOW TO JOIN ANNAPOLIS DIVISION

Joining Annapolis Division is easy! We encourage prospective cadets and their families to learn about the program, visit a drill weekend, and determine whether the Sea Cadet experience is the right fit before completing the enrollment process.

Before Your First Visit

Prospective cadets should not purchase uniforms before attending their first drill weekend. Our staff will explain the enrollment process, answer your questions, and provide guidance on required uniforms and equipment after you've decided to join.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What ages can join?

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps serves youth ages 10–17.

Ages 10–13: Navy League Cadet Corps (TS Reina Mercedes)
Ages 13–17: U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (Annapolis Division)

How often do you meet?

Annapolis Division drills one weekend each month, typically from 0745 to 1515 on both Saturday and Sunday. Additional community service projects, color guard events, and optional training opportunities are offered throughout the year.

Do I need military experience?

No. No prior military knowledge or experience is required. We welcome motivated young people who are eager to learn, challenge themselves, and work as part of a team.

Do I need a uniform before my first visit?

No. Please attend your first drill in comfortable, appropriate civilian clothing. Our staff will explain the uniform requirements and help you obtain the correct items after you decide to join.

What does it cost to join?

There are annual national registration fees, and families should expect some costs for uniforms and activities. We will review all expected expenses during your visit so you can make an informed decision before enrolling.

What kinds of training can I attend?

In addition to monthly drills, cadets may attend recruit training, advanced trainings, STEM programs, leadership schools, sailing, aviation, medical, cybersecurity, music, and many other specialized trainings offered nationwide.

Can parents stay during drills?

Parents are welcome to attend orientation and speak with staff. During regular training, cadets participate independently while parents are encouraged to return at the designated pickup time unless requested otherwise.
