New Cadet Enrollment Information
The Deland Excellence Squadron is actively recruiting all year round. We encourage prospective cadets and their parent/s to come view at least two of our drills to observe how the program works. Parents are required to stay with their prospective cadet during the observation phase. This allows parents to ask any questions they may have. When the cadet actively joins the program parents are not required to stay during the drills. We do welcome parents as volunteer staff to the program. If you are interested in joining as staff please let our Squadron know.
The Process to join:
The cadet and parent must observe at least one drill.

2a) Membership & Waiver Form (2 pages)

Parent signs 8a-b, 9c-e
2b) CO's Top 7 and Rules & Regs (2 pages) Cadet & Parent must sign and date
2c) Medical History, Immunization, & Insurance Card- Parent will upload/fill out these forms once access to the portal is granted.
2d) Report of Medical Exam- This form must be given to the Medical Provider to fill out. School forms will not be accepted.
Please note when filling out the forms the date will be written in this format: 23 Jan 24 (day, abbreviated month, and year)
The cadet will need their own separate & unique email address to access their portal and complete coursework. Free email address providers: Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, AOL.
The enrollment fee must be paid.
Once enrolled the Cadet will be issued appropriate uniforms, sea bag, name tapes, patches, ribbons, ribbon rack, and other equipment.
Enrollment Fee
The enrollment fee is subject to change. Currently the enrollment fee is $200. Thereafter the enrollment fee is $120. The Squadron does not charge monthly fees but there are times the squadron may visit camp grounds, Military Bases, Museums or other locations that require a nominal fee. If you have multiple cadets enrolling please talk with our enrollment officer and they can discuss a sibling discount with you.
Observing Protocol
Wear a plain dark blue t-shirt, dark blue or black basketball/gym shorts, and gym shorts
Bring a water bottle, canteen, or hydration pack filled with water.
Bring your own lunch or $5 for lunch with the cadets.
Grooming Standards:
Jewelry: No jewelry except a necklace that can be hidden under a t-shirt.
Males: “fade” cut, no hair touching ears, no hair on head longer than 4”.
Females: long hair pulled into bun at nape; short styles neat per Female Hairstyle Regulations)
