DARSHAN DEDHIA, KHUSHI BAGRECHA
The workshop focused on putting together Space, Material and Experience.
The task was to :
Identify tectonic characteristics of a given material - STEEL and express it in the form of opposing spatial experience.
We explored the spatial experience- Heaviness/Ecstacy, as a constraint through the construction process of weaving.

The form and geometry started to emerge from the circles and curves, by cutting, overlapping and intersecting it.
The grid, folds and overlapping allowed more stability to the structure.
Further by bending and joining , and multiplying a singe module to develop the form of the pavilion.
The Site is located in Bandra , near bandstand as it has Arabian Sea on its West side. The placement of pavilion in this garden would allow more interactions with the structure, its materiality and form.
The pavilion is made up of mild steel plates of 10mm thickness. These plates get diverged along various axis and gets fixed with the other plates. This folding of plates forms the grid that creat weave and hence allows the structure to be stable. The color coding of the plates makes the weave more explicit and allows the viewer to engage more with it.
